2nd portrait of the 14th arrondissement: The Beautanist, Eloïse Duguay is a writer, columnist, and editor. Born in the 14th arrondissement of Paris, she grew up there, between the Pernety and Denfert neighborhoods. She recently returned to settle in a unique space: a former architect's studio, transformed into a small glass house, hidden at the end of a courtyard. As soon as you enter, you are transported. Birds sing in the backyard, the large bay windows are open, and the setting is bathed in the soft light of a spring day.
I met her at @salontoutart. She invited me into her home. After a few photos and a tour of the studio, we sat down on the wrought iron chairs in the sunshine to chat.
Eloïse, also known as La Beautaniste on Instagram, has oscillated between the worlds of publishing, art galleries, and writing. After attending business school, she chose to devote herself fully to what she's passionate about: storytelling. Her favorite subjects? Travel, everyday life, and artist portraits, which she's been sharing on her platform since 2019. Eloïse also writes for others and collaborates on freelance editorial projects. A little finger told me she was also working on a manuscript, the result of three years of research about a little-known artist...
She has a deep attachment to the 14th arrondissement. This neighborhood, little touched by tourism, remains a refuge, a haven for her. She loves its shops and its small, discreet museums, which give this arrondissement a village feel and authentic character.
